PINE GROVE CEMETERY, Since 1862
by: Paul Arculua
The long-awaited book on Pine Grove Cemetery is here. This illustrated guide book of Port Perry's major cemetery contains details on more than eighty memorials in the cemetery. Those who are remembered in Pine Grove have had an immense impact on society, not only locally but nationally and internationally.
The book is the work of local historian and President of the Lake Scugog Historical Society, Paul Arculus. It will be sold at meetings of the LSHS and is available at Books Galore. The cost is $10.00 and all proceeds go to the Lake Scugog Historical Society.
Paperback, approximately 5.5" x 8.5".
No visit to downtown Port Perry is complete without dropping into Books Galore at 175 Perry Street. Owner Bill Minors is considered (mostly by himself) to be one of the most knowledgeable people in the book business.
Prior to purchasing the store in 1995, Bill had a twenty-five year career with various book publishers, both here and abroad. So, if you are looking for a book and all you can remember is that it is blue and has "monkey" in the title, don't be surprised if he comes up with exactly what you are looking for.
Area shoppers have come to depend upon Books Galore for friendly advice, terrific service and a great selection of books from around the globe. Books Galore offers a selection of books that can only be described as eclectic: new books - used books, fiction - non-fiction, adult - children's, hardcover - paperback, plus a large selection of military history books that reflect Bill's own interests.
So, whether it is something light to read at the beach or cottage, a stimulating book for a child or the latest best sellers, Books Galore has something for everyone. If you have a heavy reading "habit" or you just don't like paying full price for books, you will love the large selection of half-priced used paperbacks. "Choice" is the watchword at Books Galore.
